Feel more. See more. Allow more. (Judge less).

Practice self-awareness and day by day you will see yourself more.
And you will know yourself more.

You will come to know and understand your weak points.
As the aches and pains naturally bubble to the surface.

It’s good practice to become ‘OK’ with things that arise in you. To allow yourself to feel stress and anger and irritation and fear and all the gritty emotions that can seem so unspiritual.

By the simple act of allowing (which is far from simple), all this stuff will pass after some time.

If you write stories about how you feel, and continue to roll in emotion about what you are thinking, that will just keep it there all day.

Letting it be ‘OK’ means it can and does shift.

Never Mind The Weather.

When it rains it rains.
When it’s sunny it’s sunny.
When it’s hot or cold it’s hot or cold.
When it’s ‘just right’ it’s simply just that.

You can’t change the weather. It would be foolish to think you could.
So why do you rail against the way you feel?

The storms rise and fall within you.
Some days feel blustery, while others feel calm.
The sun shines. Or the grey cloud just blankets your being.

Minute by minute your moods shift and change like the winds.
You can’t change the way you feel in this moment by force of will.
So accept this moment. This feeling. The ‘good’ the ‘bad’ and the ‘indifferent’.

When the storms rage maybe just take cover.
The cover of your acceptance with awareness of breath as your anchor.

Al things change. They can’t not.
The dance of impermanence is played out in your body, heart and mind, with each passing blip of time.

So for now, if the darkness cloaks you, the rains lash, or the sun burns your skin, you could maybe just take cover – take rest – and watch, watch, watch and wait as the atmosphere changes, naturally, in its own sweet time. Your nose pressed against the window with patience, acceptance, and a strong intent to not write stories to match the way you feel.

And everything will change.
Maybe sooner. Maybe later. Maybe today. Maybe not.

Let it be.

And then when the air feels fresh and clear again, and the light shines kindly on you, then take the opportunity to begin the process of gratitude once more.

Use the times you feel good to create, with positive expectation, thankfulness and a heart full of wonder.

Use the times you feel down, anxious, angry or any of the less palatable sensations to practice accepting things, just as they are.

There is enormous power in your acceptance of what is.

You can’t change the weather.
But you can change your mind.

Think Less. Feel More.

The words were clear and directive. The intent pure. The message came from another angle, a sled of granite, riding deep into conscious and unconscious mind.

The journey to heart continues. The mind a troublesome bedfellow. Always tripping you up. Repeating and replaying. Pulling you into past and future. Niggling and nagging and bullying and Just Trying To Keep You Safe. When safety is not an issue. Never was. Never will be.

The issue is one of opening. Against the grain. The learned responses of past decades being put aside. Not easy. But path is path. Follow or surrender.

Time to soften and melt. To allow the somatic flow to untie you. The realisation that all the feelings, the sensations, the emotional and energetic flows are the path to god.

Are god itself.

So think less. Feel more.

Your practice is this.

heaviness.

And then the overwhelm lands, flonk, in your lap.
The emotions jangle. The tension, the sadness, the anxiety and bubbling anger.
And it fuels the thoughts. Loops it round and around.
Bad feeling. Bad thought.

And. Repeat.

But.

Is it so bad? Or is it just another expression of the moment? The who you are right now. The what you are experiencing that just is, is and is.

It’s tough to remain in peace and equanimity when you feel so crushed by the feelings and their accompanying thoughts.

But maybe just write it all out at length. Spill your guts onto the page. Vomit the thoughts out, so their powerful tug is lessened. And then go and sit. Close you eyes. And take some breaths. Feel the expression of these thoughts and feelings as they ripple over and through your body and mind.

These unwelcome guests may just be messengers from god. An invitation to come closer. A wide-armed welcome that leads you to the divine.

Because you ARE the divine. And everything you feel is just that too.

Little. Bits. Of. God.

Expressed in their most powerful human form.

Focus. Wider.

The here and now is a good place to be. To aim. To focus.
With a clear acceptance of what is arising, moment by moment.

But some danger lies in getting too wrapped up in the minute detail of feeling and action, cause and effect, moment by moment.
With measurement and expectation starting to bog us down by occupying too much of the conscious mind and feeling heart.

It’s all too easy to get too wrapped up in What Is Going On.
And measuring everything in unnecessary detail.

The words of a conversation. The interactions in a class. The events of  day. And even the broader brushstrokes of a week. They can all take up too much of our attention and bring heartache if we deem them ‘unsatisfactory’.

But sometimes, step back. Look wide and long and deep. See the flow of your months and years, your last decade. And then the measurement has more value. With the power to inspire gratitude and renewed vigour to move forward in a similar vein, or to make those bigger changes that will shape the next ten years.

Always remembering that we cannot fathom the intricate flow of events unfolding in the moment. That the bigger picture is far more convoluted than our minds can fathom.

Don’t miss the stunning panorama by always looking at just one tree.

Your life if bigger than that.
Sweeping. Majestic.
And worthy of patience and a healthy dose of awe.
